Exterior

The train shell was built from several main components, including the inner and outer carriage, doors, axles, and roof. I began by modelling the outer carriage using a single plane, cutting in the window and door openings before shaping the rest of the structure.

This same process was then repeated for the front and rear sections of the train.

While working from references, I felt the roof design appeared too flat visually, so I added a simple raised structure to create a more interesting silhouette and improve the overall shape of the carriage. The inner carriage was created by duplicating the base shape of the outer carriage and developing it into a solid interior structure from there.
I then built the roof with little ridges running along the sides, as I thought it was too plain otherwise.
For the bottom of the train, I found some images of what the train axles look like. I tried my best to follow it properly. I did simplify a lot of the shapes and meshes,, as this wasn’t going to be seen properly in the final outcome and in the scene in general.
Interior
The interior didn’t need to be too detailed, as the player wouldn’t really stay in there too long. All I needed was the seats and handlebars.
For the seats I separated them into three parts: the side pieces, the bottom and the actual seat. I used the mannequin to size the seats to make sure the player would be able to walk through properly.
The handlebars attached to the side were a bit difficult, as I had a few technical difficulties with bridging the loops. The shape would look really off sometimes, and I had no idea why.
