Week 5

I got started on sculpting in Blender to get the basic shapes down. Turning on Dynomesh and constant detail, I could easily sculpt the shape for the side profile.

I started off with the grab brush so I could move the shape closer to the sketch, I made sure to have symmetry turned on so both sides would be even. I mostly used the draw and grab brush as I found those the best to work with, I wanted to use the clay strips brush to get a softer sculpt in but for some reason it wouldn’t do anything to it except push it furher in.

One issue I kept having was that smoothin kept shrinking the mesh down a lot but I didn’t want to keep subdividing. I ended up turning the smooth strength quite low so it wouldnt affect the size and shape that much.

The calves were also a bit of an issue, as I couldnt smooth it out. There were quite a few edges that stuck out that I could remove no matter what i did. I figured it would be easier to smooth them out in ZBrush than Blender since Blender isn’t the best for sculpting.

I was quite happy with the shape and look of the body more so from the front than the side. I think that was because of my badly drawn side profile sketch.

Using the same method I added the arms in, I had to make the side of the arm on the spot as I didn’t sketch the side view of the arm in so it was slightly more difficult to make. I made sure to mirror every limb after the sculpting.

Now all I needed to do were the hands and feet
