I had a lot of difficulties when it came to the UVs; it turns out a lot of them were way too messy to move into Substance Painter. The biggest issue I had with the UVs was the patterns that were put into the gazebo using Boolean, I used automatic UV, thinking it would be ok.

on the left is what my model looked like in Maya; the meshes were all completely fine and intact but when I put it into substance Painter, everything got messed up. I spent a long time trying to figure out what I did wrong for the bridge, as I UV’d it myself and everything looked fine. I looked over the mesh using wireframe multiple times but I had deleted every extra edge or vertex that I could see so I was very confused. I inspected the extra face closely in substance painter and from what I could see, it was probably from one of the bevelled edges.

I ended up just deleting the top bevelled edge on that corner; it was fixed. Even after redoing the UV and inspecting the edges carefully multiple times, I still don’t really understand why it did that, especially because it looked fine in maya, I was tempted to remake it after a while, as it wasn’t just something that could be hidden if there were any issues that couldn’t be fixed.
For the patterns, It was a very complicated process to get it back to normal. I had to completely remove all extra edges for the pattern so the front and back were all one face

Because I made the pattern through extrusion, there were a lot of unnecessary edges that needed to be deleted, which made the UV process overly complicated. To fix this, I deleted all the edges inside the pattern on the front and back, making it all one face. Even though the UV was still pretty messy, it did end up fixing the issue with the fences.
When trying to boolean the pattern into the cylinder, I had to import it back into blender as, like the previous time, boolean on Maya didn’t seem to want to work properly. I had to thicken the patterns so they extended even more because, when I tried to rotate it, some of the edges were not placed properly. With the new thicker patterns there was no issue with the Booleans from what I could tell, all that was left to do was to bring it back into maya to sort out the UV.

I did the same thing for the fences; using the new patterns, the boolean didn’t have any issues when I imported them back into Substance Painter.
